Exciting Times for the ‘Celtic Mass and the Sea’
September 2007 saw the ‘Celtic Mass for the Sea’ performed 3 times in Hamburg Germany. The first 2 concerts were International presentations bringing together ‘Coro Sonoro’ of Switzerland, under the direction of Margret Sohn, and the ‘Osnabrücker Vocalharmonie choir’ from Germany directed by Holger Dolkemeyer for concerts at St. Johannas Kirche and again at St. Michael’s Kirche. A 3rd concert was performed in Osnabrück for NABU, a German nature protection organization. All of the concerts were met with much enthusiasm and ovations!
Back in Canada on October 12, and 13th there were 2 very special Cape Breton Presentations of the ‘Celtic Mass for the Sea’ closing the 2007 Celtic Colours International Festival.
Conducting his own work for the 3rd time since it’s premiere in 1991, Scott led the combined choirs, of the Inverness County Singers, conducted by Marion MacLeod and the Cape Breton Choral under Sister Rita Claire, along with a host of Cape Breton musicians and soloists.
These performances transfixed the audiences and after what seemed like minutes of complete silence the audience exploded into unrepressed applause and cheers
